Learn from sales sequence experts actively selling TODAY

In the 1st ever Sequence Practice, I was joined by my good friends Max Comparetto & Scott Barker as we reviewed 3 emails, 1 call script, and 1 sequence live on the air!

We were joined by 2 brave presenters – one, a business process consultant from Canada and the other a (you-have-to-look-out-for) BDR from the good old USA. They presented their work and bravely accepted our feedback…and even joined in the conversation.

Thanks Jeff and Cierra for your participation. Our first event would NOT have been the same without you!

Also, a big thanks to our attendees who were (to use Scott’s phrase) WEAPONS on the chat…giving amazing feedback and asking some excellent questions.

You all rock!

What’d we learn?

So in case you don’t have an hour to review, here’s some key takeaways we took down for you:

  1. Be short & sweet – brevity is your friend
  2. Be direct – get to the point faster
  3. Be human – natural language beats robotic jargon
  4. Be a chameleon – know AND speak your customers’ language
  5. Be different – interrupt the norm (pattern-interruption)

My favorite best practice

#1

We come across this often in our work, but I can’t stress how important it is to keep your emails short and to the point. This goes double, no triple, for prospecting, but it can be applied to any message.

You know why Twitter only allowed 140 characters for the longest time?

Because they knew people have short attention spans and that the users who would craft compelling SHORT messages were the ones that would be bosses of the platform.

I’d encourage you to read their origin story as it’s a great way to re-think how you write your sales copy & scripts.

But did we have fun?

YES!

While we take our roles seriously in helping people like you book more meetings and smash their quota, we were able to leave some room for (not-so) witty banter and a somewhat embarrassing story about what I branded “Leisure Suit Jeff”.

Why did I do that? I don’t know, but it’s funny when I look back at it :p

Not only this, but I truly truly enjoyed the conversation going on in the comments. Even made some friends in an amazingly short amount of time!

and finally…We Have a Champion!

Our second speaker of Sequence Practice #1 impressed us so much with, not only her work, but the results she’s getting from her constant optimization.

Congrats Cierra Bedelyon!

Cierra has earned the chance to be my special guest on an upcoming Sales Hacker webinar.

Stay tuned to see if she made the list…and of course, the when, where, etc. of that event.
